Whether in front of an audience of 10 or a crowd of 10,000, singer, songwriter, and performer Steffanie Christi’an commands the stage with an electrifying blend of grit and sensuality. Singing before she could speak, she bares her soul in her lyrics and awes listeners with her soaring vocals. Distinguished by seamless versatility and an eclectic stable of influences, from Sam Cooke to Kurt Cobain, Steffanie’s performances leave audiences feeling flushed and fed. She has performed with a variety of artists including MacArthur award winner Taylor Mac, techno pioneers Inner City, and hip-hop legend Talib Kweli, released four independent EP’s, and has traveled the world rocking stages from California to Australia.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Steffanie is a natural born singer who was blessed to begin performing at local events around the city while she was a young child. At age nine, Steffanie secured her first professional gig as a paid performer at boxing legend, Tommy Hearns’ birthday party. Her Detroit roots have cultivated her music; giving birth to collaborations with local legends like, Big Proof from D12 and J Dilla’s original producing partner, Amp Fiddler.

Steffanie was 18 years old when she explored the concrete jungle of New York City. After signing to Famous Music Publishing, she spent a few years writing with some of the industry’s top songwriters and producers. Yet, Steffanie yearned to fulfill her creative destiny by expressing her own unique musical talent. She returned home to Detroit and immediately reconnected with fellow artists who were close to her heart, including Big Proof.

Steffanie is the former front woman of the rock band, FluxPhonic. As a solo performer, she has toured with regional funk and soul bands and has opened for a diverse range of acclaimed artists including Tom Morello, Thousand Foot Krutch, Erykah Badu and Talib Kweli. Her highly anticipated debut solo album, Way Too Much was released in 2014. It was a fitting reflection of her signature style.

Featured in Taylor Mac’s “24-Decade History of Popular Music”, Christi’an contributed to what The New York Times deemed as one of “the best performances of 2016.” Jeff Milo of the Detroit Free Press says “Steffanie Christi’an casts an irresistible spell with her voice, by fitting a whole song’s worth of emotion and expressive inflection into a single verse… or just one melodic run. She has shared the stage with a range of acclaimed rock, funk and soul artists, adroitly bridging the worlds of high energy R&B, heavy-hitting arena rock and the gutsy soul balladry.”

Christi’an’s thrilling performance in a 2017 tribute to Aretha Franklin prompted the Queen of Soul’s family to request her participation in the People’s Tribute to the Queen memorial concert, held during her memorial services at Chene Park in Detroit. She was part of an all-star line-up also featuring Patti LaBelle, Johnny Gill and Regina Belle.

With an unwavering work ethic, Ms. Christi’an has performed at an array of acclaimed events and venues, including the historic Apollo Theatre in Harlem and in front of thousands of music lovers at the Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. She has also made several appearances in Don Was’ All-Star Detroit Revue and she is a fan favorite when performing across the globe as a member of jessica Care moore’s Black Women Rock! Honoring a legacy that influenced her gutsy style, she also has produced and performed in a sold-out tribute to the iconic Tina Turner.

The singer, songwriter and activist shared her soul stirring talent during a worldwide broadcast of a memorial for police shooting victim, Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. Audiences in Europe got a taste of her magnetic persona during her tour with the Black Rock Coalition. With four independently released EPs, she displays raw lyrics over stimulating soundscapes. Her versatile range allows her to embody multiple genres, but rock music has always had her heart.  Gearing up for her first full-length release, It’s Complicated, she is reeling with excitement for what’s to come as she prepares to command new endeavors in 2019 and beyond.
